| Indian Mynah Bird Cage Trap |
The Indian Mynah is a native of Asia introduced into Australia in 1860. It has spread rapidly on the east coast.
It is an aggressive scavenger, dominating other species. It will destroy eggs of other birds and take over their nests. It has a brown body, black head and chest, white wing patches with yellow beak, feet, and legs, and a yellow area of bare skin around the eyes. It breeds October to March, but this can be extended over three clutches of five blue eggs. It is known they even take food from the mouths of other birds.
They stand tall and arrogant and even drive other birds away. They roost in the same place for years in large groups, mainly around suburbia, becoming a nuisance. Indian Mynahs have been declared an environmental pest, and the public is allowed to remove them. Their destructive nature is well documented.
